  9. 28 oz can of mashed tomatoes
  10. 2 teaspoons tomato paste
  11. 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  12. 1/4 cup sour cream
  13. 1 bag egg noodles, cooked as directed on package

Steps to Make Hungarian Mama Gulash

  1. Mix the flour with the cooked meat in a bowl.
  2. Heat half of the oil in a large, heavy saucepan over medium-high heat.
  3. Fry half of the meat in the oil until brown. Remove the first batch and brown the second batch of beef. This step is browning the meat rather than steaming it.
  4. Remove the cooked meat and set aside. Now add the other half of the oil and fry the onion a little.
  5. Mix tomato paste with salt, pepper, garlic and paprika.
  6. Boil for one minute.
  7. Put the roasted tomatoes and meat broth in a bowl.
  8. Reduce the heat to low and mix well, scraping the bottom of the pan. Pour into the boiled beef.
  9. Cover and simmer for 1 hour and 45 minutes, until the meat is tender. Check the progress and stir it occasionally.
  10. Fill the sauce with the addition of sour cream. Serve over boiled egg noodles.
