Ingredients and spices required for making shepherd's pie:
- 1 1/2 pounds 85% ground beef
- 2 jars 10 milk biscuits
- 1 10 oz (10 oz) package frozen vegetables (I used a mix of broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower), thawed, dried, and coarsely chopped
- 2 cups beef sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 3 cups prepared mashed potatoes
Steps to make Shepherd's Pie
- Preheat oven to 350. Start frying the minced meat.
- You will need 2 pie pans. Press a cookie cutter into each pie dish from bottom to top. Make sure to iron the seams well. Bake the two cake pans in the oven for just 5 minutes.
- Strain the mince. Remove the pie pan and increase the heat to 375.
- In a large saucepan, add ground beef, Worcestershire ground beef, sautéed vegetables, beef sauce, onion powder, salt and pepper.
- Simmer for 10 minutes and arrange on plates. You will have about 2 cups per pie dish.
- Add one and a half cups of cooked mashed potatoes to each pie plate. Spread the potatoes evenly over the meat mixture.
- Place the pies on a heavy baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown on top.
